The Little Block

All the blocks were gathered
And put into a row
All the things that mattered
Were stuffed inside to grow

The lil block couldn’t carry
As much as all the rest
The stuff was way too heavy
To drag on through the quest

The lil block grew weary
And dropped things on the way
What was kept and what was dropped
Was not for them to say

The lil block hung on to
The things that mattered most
All the others watched
Unaware of the haunting ghosts

They saw what they wanted
And ignored the rest
The lil block struggled
But put forth its very best

As the years rolled on
The blocks stayed in their row
The lil block just stood there
But it was all for show

Then one day it happened
The lil block stepped out
All the others panicked
So they created doubt

The block was not what mattered
It was the secrets that it held
The fear of the exposure
Is what the others felt

The lil block stood there
With the secrets bare
They pretended not to notice
But said go fix your hair

A new generation
Of blocks put into a row
Can we truly love them?
Or is it done for show?
