Becoming invisible

In order to become invisible
One must first be keen
For there in no sense being invisible
Unless you can be seen

Start out as unassuming
Confident and sure
And without them noticing
You will slowly disappear

Hide amongst the self centered
The needy the insecure
Soon their need out weighs you
Soon you disappear

It's not your unimportance
Or things you may hold dear
It's more about what's lacking
It's about the inner pure

We are worthy of what matters
But only to ourselves
You can fight to have your needs met
Or put them on a shelf

What I like about Un-Birthdays

I don't like birthday's because -

I do not feel comfortable getting things.

It feels awkward to me to receive gifts, I do not feel I deserve.

It is not about age or aging as every person we know has one every year.

It is more about the obligation. I do not want people to feel obligated to say or do anything that they would not normally do. Which of course makes it difficult and uncomfortable to do anything. The things I want can not be 'asked' for, the things I want are achievable and often over looked.

I would prefer to celebrate Un-Birthdays as those are the days where we all just feel good about each other because we can, not because we should or 'have' to. Those are the days it really feels good to be treated special, those are the days that matter the most over the course of our lifetime.

A person only has one Birthday every 365 days, yet it is possible to celebrate 364 un-birthdays. No matter how you slice it, new math or Old the Un-birthday is the way to go.

When she died young

They said it was sad,
when she died young.
For who, is this sadness?
For who, was the fun?

Hiding the pain,
that cut through her heart.
Pretending the love,
was doing its part

Painting a smile,
upon the face.
All of the whores,
dressed up in lace

The cycle repeats
please people, rebel
Pleased, they smile.
Angry, they Yell.

Wipe up your tear,
dry out your eyes.
for today is the day,
she is free from your lies!

The shame of your actions,
a heavy coat to wear.
You placed it on a child,
as her cross to bare.

Don't be sad for the soul,
crossing this dawn.
Be sad for the lies,
this family is built on.

Hide your shame,
so the neighbours don't see
when it leaches over there
what will be, will be

Who can own their part
Stand and make amends
for you can rape your family
but you should not rape your friends

Unsaid

So often, as I sit to write
my words get jumbled
my thoughts take flight

I think in prose, in 4/4 time
amusing thoughts
come out as rhymes

It matters not, what others think
for what I write
keeps me in sync

It takes the thoughts, out of my head
it gives me peace
Leaves things unsaid

For I am one, and I am whole
I share my life
I play my role

When I keep my words, close to my chest
the waves subside
they like me best

A battle within, the fight is strong
not truth or lies
just getting along.

Holler

I often wonder when peeps lash out -
What chord I struck that made them shout.
For fear has made many a man yell.
Reflection and quiet tend to quell.

Before After

Sit, think, expand, idea, create
Numb, sit, mellow, wait
Relax, refocus, rewind
Zone in, zone out, never mind
Think once, think twice, think again
Capture, record, back up, forget
Relative, important, prioritized
Lazy, shut in, unconcerned

Chasing

How do you spend your life?
Chasing the next high
You know it won’t be found
That well has run dry

Need and desperation
Are the voids you fill?
Self medicating
Crushing your will

Be it on substance or lights
Or things that go whirr
Part of the need that you crave
Is the upset you stir?

Crisis abound
Abundant and clear
All this commotion
To mask off your fear

The lesson you find
May not be what you seek
You can’t be too choosy
When your future looks bleak

The life that you waste
May it be only your own?
But we all know
You’ll wreck many a home

So chase all your highs
Throw your dreams in a ditch
For life’s what you make it
And that is a bitch.

Throwin Stones

When I was young
not yet on my own
I used to spend time
on shore throwing stones

Searching the edge
For stones that were flat
Smooth to the touch
Fit precise in your hand

I’d gather a bunch
Then find a good place
And I’d throw and I’d throw
Til sweat drip off my face

Counting each skip
Trying for more
Working the angle
Raising the score

Weekends were the best
Spent down by the river
Swimming all day
Til I had blue lips and a shiver

Found me a place
Twas safe from harm
A place for just me
A place that was warm

Sitting on the bridge
Short climb to the top
Although it’s illegal
It’s hidden from the cops

Now I’m not young
But I’m long on my own
I sure miss my time
On shore throwing stones

The Price of Punishment

I want to write to you
tell you how I feel
but I'm afraid
the words will make it real

I think you will get angry
and then things will get worse
but the silence is deafening
in my private curse

If we are really quiet
and we all pretend
the anger won't go away
the broken hearts won't mend

I am sorry to have hurt you
I am sorry you are down
I'm sorry I can't be more
I'm sorry I make you frown

My heart aches for you
more than my fractures ever did
I ache for what I can't have
I ache for what I did

I'll pay the price of punishment
til I can't pay any more
I ask for your forgiveness
If it is something you can afford

Ode to the one I love

You make me Sweat,
You make me grin.
You fill my mind,
With thoughts of Sin!

You make my neck hairs,
Stand upright.
You whet my,
Carnal appetite.

You make me breathe
Erratically,
You make my innards
fill with glee

You make me feel
Complete and whole,
You make my Hormones
Lose control.

Too Fore

Love is - the look on my face
When our eyes first met
Love is - keeping your things
Taking your puppy as a pet

Love is - eating fungus spores
& coming to see the new place
Love is - counting stars
& a big fall losing you the race

Love is - kissing on the tour
But we didn’t know that yet
Love is - alcohol and wine skins
& acts we’ll never forget

Love is - when you hold me
Arms wrapped around me tight
Love is - when you scold me
Or we have a fight

Love is - when you touch me
Just to show you care
Love is - when I think of you
Just knowing that your there
